Hello everyone, I have a 2009 subsru legscy, sometimes randomly when trying to start the engine the car short circuits, all the lights go out including exterior headlights, door lights and interior lights. It happens randomly, sometimes it happens twice in a day, sometimes it doesn't happen for weeks. It is important to say that when this happens the solution 100% of the time is to disconnect and reconnect the negative battery. After this it takes a few more seconds to start the engine but as soon as it does everything works normally, although when you turn it on the radio memory and the dashboard time are reset.
It is not an annoying problem but I am worried that something important may be failing and that in the future it will be more difficult to fix, thank you very much for your help.
Update for someone with a similar problem: I replaced the battery and the terminal ends, for the moment the car is working well, if the trouble returns (I hope no) I’ll let you know.

a bad battery post or cable terminal would certainly cause the symptoms you describe. If that's the case then this may simply be a poor connection. Not a short circuit. I don't know what "bit broke" or "small dents" means. Feel free to post photos/videos.
Well either you have some type of computer module failure or you just have a bad battery. So go get the battery load tested and pray it's just that cuz if not the only thing that removing the battery and putting it back on does is reset the computer system. But if you have a really weak battery it could also do the same symptoms
Do any fuses burn out ? look for damaged wiring under the hood connected to the battery, alternator, fuse box etc.
Im gonna check the fuses one by one to see if some of them are burned, the positive of my battery is a little bit broke, like if the metal is weak and start to lost small dents, honestly I don’t know how old is the battery, I bought the car last September and I’m not sure about the age of the battery but doesn’t look exactly new. The damage in the positive terminal and the problem with the short circuit starts months ago when I remove the battery to work in other part of the car, that maybe have any relation?
