Hi Scotty, What do you think about the Subaru Legacy 2009 automatic, its from Japan with 50000Km or 31068 Miles, its from a dealership.
With that low mileage or decent vehicles but they generally charge too much at dealers
Head gasket issues were prevalent during those yrs. make sure that has been replaced. They weren’t bad vehicles but not great. I had one for awhile and it didn’t have major issues to speak of. But I know the head gaskets were the major concern during those years. If it has the 2.5 some issues that come up are knocking in the 4th cylinder that’s because that cylinder is the hottest and cooling is worse over there. and sometimes it gets bad enough engine rebuild is needed. Some leaked oil a little bit but it’s rare. I never had any issues with the motor other than some knocking on cold mornings. Avoid the 6 cylinder motor completely.
The biggest thing to look out for on those are the head gaskets and the automatic transmission isn’t the strongest point either. However, with low mileage like that it still has plenty of life left in it and they generally don’t start having those issues until about 100-150k. Subaru’s quality has improved significantly since then. I’m a Subaru owner myself and I’ve always loved them, so it’s hard for me to tell anyone not to buy one. I’m also pretty certain that the 2009 model was no where near as horrid as the late ‘90s ones as far as the head gasket failures. With all that said, I say buy it. Generally speaking it’s a great car, especially the AWD system.
Those were pretty good cars. I would buy it.
