Hi Scotty,

I am a single mother about to trade in my vehicle, i really like this 2018 CR-V the dealer has. Its certified and drove really nice when i took it for a test drive, but being a female and not knowing too much about cars, id like to get a second opinion, and i thought you would be the best one to give your honest opinion. Here is a link to the car for its information.

Hoping to get an answer A.S.A.P.

Much Love,

Mera

Clarification: Do you need AWD, and how many years and miles do you need it to last you?

I really dont need awd but living in colorado where it snows it can be beneficial .

Likely a good car.  They are very reliable.

But the price is too high.

Be careful if you're financing, and end up paying the same price as a brand new one.

A 2021 CRV AWD can be had for zero down, $460 a month (60 month loan).

Although, for 2020 MY and newer, they dropped the 2.4L naturally aspirated (NA) engine and all gasoline-only CRVs came standard with the 1.5L turbocharged I4 as the sole engine. So looking at 2019 model year or earlier is wise since they still offered the 2.4L NA engine.

Oh yes. Never hear any complaints about that engine.

Thanks im looking to pay cash on it. Im looking for it to last me many years.. How much do you think is a reasonable price to pay?

Look for similar cars in your local area. Search in Craigslist and also try to get as close as possible to the “trade in value” in the kbb website. Ask the dealer about the price if you want to finance it and then lower it as much as possible by offering cash.
