I’m looking for a first car and i found a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 73,200 miles. I try to stay away from the v8 because i know they can be expensive to repair if they break. Is it ok

Those have weak automatic transmissions. Might be OK for a while if that's the real mileage but have a mechanic check it out.

Definitely have it checked out by a pro. Also, verify the mileage and make sure it has a clean title.

Those are a lot better made than the newer ones, but if you get a 4l inline 6 and the transmission shifts good, go ahead and buy it. Just make sure to have a mechanic check it out and don't overpay.
