Should I purchase a 2004 Toyota 4Runner SR5?

Buying from second owner. We did not scan for codes.

Runs perfect 

Everything works 

Current tags 

Clean title 

I have paper work for everything done within the last yr 

Spacer lift 2" rough country 

2wheel drive 

Falken tires 80%

17in wheels 

Touch screen 

All new belts /pulleys

Paint is 8-10 

All power

Can the seller prove his statements with receipts?  Most people are as honest as the day is long but money somehow shortens the day.


Yeah I completely understand what you mean with trusting anyone. This owner did have receipts with all the work and add ons he’s done. He seems like a car enthusiast based on how he was explaining all the work he’s put in.

That's a good start.  Now have it inspected by a competent mechanic, the most important test of which is a compression test, wet and dry.

Price is too high. 

If you are Ok with it, your mechanic should tell you if it is a good buy or not. 


I went with someone who knows no more about mechanical and performance. Based on what I was told the 4runner is running great and everything in the engine looks good. So the only issue aside from that you’d say is price is to high? My budget for any 4runner I’m trying to get is actually 9,500-10,500.
