I have a 2010 Honda Accord w/ 2.4L engine. Also have a 2012 Honda Civic w/ a 1.8L engine. Both have automatic transmissions and about 90k miles. A mechanic told me I should run both hard. Meaning get the RPM's up above 5k frequently. Says it helps clean them out. Is this true? FYI, I use a good fuel injector cleaner twice a year.

Once in a while, sure. Every engine needs that.
I won't comment on "frequently".

An Italian Tune Up isn't so bad once in a while.

Once in a while sure but don't rev the hell out of it with your coffee on the ride to work every morning.
