Hey Scotty what's up? I'm 20 years old and I've had my miata for around a year or so. The car however isn't the most practical thing in the world for daily driving. Would trading it in for an evo x be a good idea? Keep in mind I'm mechanically inclined and would have plans to modify the car.

yes and no sir, look at the mit evo x if it driven like hell and most probably is ... evo x is most modifiers dreams true....
If your Mazda breaks down every here and then and you want to replace it because of that I would say take the Evo to a good and I mean good mechanic to check it out for you! Most probably its been driven like crazy check the pressure in the engine if there is like 15-20% deference in the pressure between the pistons, check the AWD system as the rear differential may fail after a while of hard taking off and abusing as the transmission also, check the turbo itself and all of its system components.
