Hi Scotty, I'm looking for a reliable budget SUV and I'm considering buying a Ford Ecosport 1.0 litter 3 cylinder engine. Do you think it can reach 200,000 without major problem?

No. Ecosport is a No No, Many here in my country having a Transmission problem. Especially TCM problem

I wouldn't, I owned 2 fords in my life so far and they just don't hold up. A couple co-workers have ecoboost engines and problems galore. I'd steer clear of 4 banger turbos. I would stick with NA v6s and 8s, less can go wrong at that point. Happy hunting

In a word, no. Those engines are made for economy. They are not made to last 200,000 miles and they don't. A huge percentage require major work at less than half that. Personally I wouldn't own one that wasn't still under the factory warranty. You could lease one too. That way engine failure would not be your responsibility unless you neglected maintenance or abused it.

Find something reliable like a Toyota.

No. Those engines are way too small for that car. It's gonna be overworked and strained. No way it will make it to 200k, trouble free.

I have the 2.0L engine with good luck so far, it's actually a Mazda engine with history.  I did avoid the 1.0L to be honest, just couldn't go with a turbo charged 3 cylinder engine.
