Should it stay or should it go

My buddy has a 2010 Lincoln MKX with 168,000 miles. He's a cheapskate like us and is wondering when he should trade it in.I told him about you and he would be interested in heading to Rhode Island if you wanted to see it and possibly make a video. Thank Scotty!

I never trade in a car, seems like most of the time you just basically end up giving it away. My suggestion would be to clean it up, and take advantage of the crazy used car prices and sell it.

For instance, when I was about to get rid of my 4runner with 225k miles, for fun I asked the dealership what they would give me for it, if I bought a newer used one they had. They said $1600, I laughed at that, then sold it for $4600 to a private party.

Thank you great advice

If the water pump has not already been replaced, then you may think about selling the vehicle while you still can.  Avoid any Ford product with that transverse V6 engine (FWD architecture).  Even if the engine does not get damaged, just replacing the water pump is a partial engine-out job and will cost you thousands ($$$) to replace.
