looking to get new wheel bearings for a 2009 Ford Taurus FWD. I've narrowed it down to a few brands:
1. SKF $65 reputable Swedish brand from what I've heard
2. GMB $69 Japanese brand I've heard Scotty recommend their other parts. For this particular part however it is listed under the economy section of rockauto which is generally the cheaper stuff that I try to stay away from.
3. Timken $85. I've heard lots of great things about timken but is it worth the extra 20 bucks?
I don’t think I would spend very much on a 16yo Taurus
I've taken Scotty's general advice on this issue. For sensors and such go OEM. For purely mechanical parts.. any reputable brand can suffice, even one with the lowest price.wheel bearings for a 2009 Ford Taurus FWD
SKF or GMB if you're trying to just get the rest of the life outta the car in the meantime. I wouldn't say it's really necessary to spend that extra for Timken.
I looked up Motorcraft's and woo if you like spending money and you're gonna get this Taurus to a million miles or something you could really pamper it!
But really though, either of the first two should be fine. Of course make sure you need it and the transmission isn't about to blow outta it before you waste money on her. But you know your car. If you're certain you need it then that's one thing. I'd roll the dice on the Japanese personally but again either's fine.
