Hey Scotty, I was having a conversation with my friend and he was saying that smog pumps were pretty much not used after the early 80s and I was telling him about how long ago I had purchased a “smog pump eliminator” for a 1995 mustang GT and sent him a link to a similar part that found on a mustang parts supplier. He was a little dumbfounded by this, and we both came to the conclusion that we had no idea what the purpose of a smog pump even is. Perhaps you could drop some knowledge on us in a future video so I can send him a link. Thanks
Good question, a smog pump just cleans the cars fumes before it exits the exhaust system, it cleans the air and it’s supposed to make your exhaust system work better
Yeah they used them a lot in the 80s but even later they have particular pumps on some some of the Toyota tunders even have a modified system on them today. Basically it's too make sure all the pollutants are burned in the exhaust by pumping extra oxygen into the exhaust that would make the stuff burn better
