Hi Scotty. I have a 98 Dodge dakota.318. 5.2. It runs excellent.but I can't get smogged. The report from the shop . I took it too. Said it has something to do with the wiring harness. The codes are po443 - evap purge.the other is control circuit p_ 1495 . The tech recommends to have a electrical diagnostic performed. Have you ever heard of a wiring for a purge valve connector. Or any of the other wiring harness keeping a vehicle from passing smog. Thanks for all your time. Much appreciated God bless.

yes the EVAP system is electrically controlled.

Take it to a competent mechanic for tests and he should be able to find out what's wrong with it.
