On a 1996 f250 would it be easier to remove the spark plugs while the engine is hot ?

Which engine do you have in that truck ?

Rule of thumb is always cold! Your engine could also have that spark plug tread issue where the plugs actually blow out so be careful on torquing back in.

Ford and their plugs.  Some blow out and some need special tools to get them out.

Here's a link if you have those extended spark plugs:

Great link.  Thanks!

Ford dealerships here want $100 per broken plug.  That can make a normal tuneup quite expensive.  It also is a great place to pad the budget.

Metal expands when hot, so the threads on the engine's head slightly swell up around the spark plug making the removal a lot hotter compared to when the engine is cold. You generally never want to work on your car when it's hot...give it a few hours to cool down.
