2008 Hummer H3 Alpha 5.3L V8 130,xxx miles
Tachometer works fine. Speedometer sometimes work & sometimes don't, when it stops working it'll work again if coming to a complete stop and driving forward again. When it stops working showing 0MPH my H3 will not shift into the next gear but only happens on 1st gear. 2nd gear & up works fine all the time.
I already replaced a NEW* -----> Freshly rebuilt Transmission including a NEW Input Speed Sensor, Output Speed Sensor, Output Speed Sensor Connector, Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor, Throttle Body Position Sensor, & also did a Cluster swap <----that didn't fix it, so its not the cluster that is going bad. All of these & still didn't fix it.
I'm using a ScanGauge II on the H3, when the speedometer don't work the scangauge will not read the speed also it'll just show 0MPH but when it starts to work again it'll show the current speed in *MPH*
*NO CODES* I used a Blue Driver app Bluetooth Scanner & did a deep scan & it show no codes.
What is the problem here?
First, make sure your speedometer cable connections are tight at the trans and the meter. If they're tight and it still doesn't work then ; Parts Geek - Lokar #28825-03644036 - $95.95 new cable.
I believe my cluster is an electronic one so it doesn't use a cable
Check that electrical connections are clean and tight both on your instrument cluster and the sending unit (probably on the transmission). Hopefully it's not a module starting to fail.
Since its only intermittently I think that a module is acting up because if the electrical connections were bad or shorted it would be a work or don't work at all. Right?
