In the last few days, my '06 Honda Element has started making some occasional groaning noises while turning, it's difficult to pinpoint the noises location exactly, though I'm certain its somewhere under the car, likely towards the rear axle (It is not the 4WD model). Though the sound is not especially loud or alarming, and there isn't any physical sensation in the car that comes with the noise. I'm more interested in preventative maintenance than post-damage repairs. Any ideas?

Lift the car and inspect the suspension parts where you guess the noise comes from.
