Scotty! I’ve got a 1983 dodge rampage. I recently changed the starter so to hearing a single click when in attempt to start. With the new starter on as soon as I hook up the battery terminals it won’t stop Engaging, along with sparks. Bench test both starters same issue

Check the ignition switch, you may have faulty ignition switch that stays always on.
