I'm wanting to upgrade my stereo system in my 2012 Mazda3. What did you guys put in your cars and what would you suggest I put in mine?
There probably aren't too many audiophiles on this forum.
If you want good, clear sound, just replace the head unit and all the door speakers with quality components. I like Alpine personally. Then you can put a couple of 12" subs in the back for the bass. Rockford-Fosgate makes good options for that.
Realize this: custom stereos have near constant issues. They blow fuses, amplifiers go bad, etc. so if you don't want to upkeep those things, do not bother changing what you have.
Don't bother, just listen to talk radio.
I've installed stereos like the one below in some of my cars but I suspect it's probably not what you're looking for.
