Strange noise, loss of power, overheating, no codes

2008 AUDI A4 2.0 TDI 103,000 MILES AUTOMATIC DIESEL

While driving about 1 mile on a carriageway I noticed the front of the car made a noise like a stone in a can shaking from 35 to 50 mph.

I parked up and saw a bit of smoke coming from the turbo area. I’m also not feeling the same boost when accelerating now. I have stopped driving.

Thank you

The turbo is blown. This is why Scotty advises against buying cars with turbocharged engines.

I’m trying to figure out why this happens

They just wear out.  Oil must be changed religiously on these engines.

I’m trying to figure out why this happens as well as understand why the engine is still overheating so I can work out whether it is worth fixing.

With that age and mileage, I would cut your losses with that money pit vehicle and move on.

Thank you for your answer. I did see the video where he advised not to buy turbocharged however only a year after buying unfortunately. I’m trying to figure out why this happens as well as understand why the engine is still overheating so I can work out whether it is worth fixing.

thank you for your responses
