What is the best way to free up the possibly rusted shift mechanism for the 4 wheel drive. It is now stuck in 4 wheel drive. The lever moves but does not disengage the internal slide collar . There was water in the trans when I got it. Drained it, and filled with diesel, let sit a month no luck. The 4 forward and reverse work fine.
M151 military jeep 1970 with T18 transmission and at bottom of the case, a basic in/out engagement of the front axil. No separate transferase, 20,000 miles. Would like to avoid pulling the trans. Any good penetrants that could be poured in that might free it up?
