Honda CR-V 1999 just shuts off

I have a Honda CR-V 1999 all time 4 wheel drive that runs & drives fine, then no spit, no sputter, just shuts off, & watched a vid you did on a Mazda & it was a cam shaft positioning sensor. We've checked fuel pressure, main relay, & obd2 readings & it wasn't spitting any codes. Does my CR-V have a cam shaft positioning sensor & if so where would it be?

It seems to be built into the distributor -

Random failures of the main relays are a known fault on older Honda's.

Not sure about the CRV's.  Mine hasn't ever failed.

Coils can also do strange things when hot.

If you can use a multimeter and a test light you can nail this issue down.

Of course you'll have to perform these tests when the CR-V has stalled and is in the No Start condition.

The 1st link will tell you how to check the coil for spark.

The 2nd link will tell you how to test the Ignition Control Module and how to see if it's getting a triggering signal from the fuel injection computer.

(if it isn't getting a triggering signal from the fuel injection computer, you'd suspect one of the crank sensors in the distributor and since the distributors are so cheap , around $75, you'd just replace it)

Scotty did a video on how to do that
