Hi Scotty,
I have a manual transmission Subaru forester 2009 that I just bought 6 months ago and, recently, I decided to change its old brake rotors and pads alongside new tires so I took the car to a mechanic nearby to do the manual labor.
Two days after that, I heard a squealing noise coming from the front brakes that later disappeared. Following that, I also noticed a prominent brrr or tumble like noise coming from the front whenever I start the car in the morning or sometimes driving uphill while on gear 1th or 2th. I don't recall this happening before changing the old brake parts.
I bought all my parts from O'reilly. What do you think is happening?

Cheap brake pads.

Following up this thread.
Brake pads weren't cheap although they were still made in Chiana. Noise disappeared after several days of use.
Noise within my engine were related to clamps attached to heat shields. I just had to replace them.
Sometimes, the noise is back when my engine is cold. I don't know what that might be and I don't want to spend more money on it to figure it out so I just learned to live with it.
Peace.
Thanks for the update. If the noise is relate to the heat shield, you may try secure it or live with it.
