5.3L V8 Flex Fuel
So this is a friends vehicle and im asking for him. His suburban began shutting stalling then shutting off while driving. Replaced the alternator, no dice. It continues to shut itself off and will start right back. We took it to a shop after trying to remove the fuel filter ourselves (rusted nut made it impossible to remove without damaging line). They said it was out of their hands and should go to a dealership. Ive heard this is somewhat common, some say ICM, most say crankshaft position senor and someone even said use the second key. Have any of you experienced this? I heard it was most likely electrical (chevy of course) so maybe I should add that the AC stopped blowing cold and the electric seat no longer works. If anyone here has experienced this issue, what was the culprit? A CPS and trying another key is easy and cheap but for every person that worked for there was another that it didnt so I just want to do my research before takling this beast.
Wow! The only way I could figure that out would be to hook up my fancy scan tool and drive the thing until it died when it did die. Then I could look at the data which is recorded on the machine and see if it was the crank sensor cam sensor fuel pumps. See what it is. But if you want a while guess try the crank sensor. They do go bad
