I have a 1989 Buick Riviera it has 74,000 miles and has been running great.
Suddenly while visiting my aunt and uncle in central Tenessee outside Nashville in the country.
One morning I started my car and the computer said engine controls electrical error.. vehicle system error, the speedometer stays at zero for maybe 5 miles then comes one, and the engine electrical controls problem alert comes on the computer screen. Thd car then runs smoother.
The cars acceleration is sluggish, when I press it feels shaky and lags, like it doesn’t speed up like normal.
It seems mice have chewed somethings. I taped 3 exposed wires. One on air conditioner, one on brake oil and one under the car bottom of the engine.
The car has had a computer error coming up since I got it when it had 37,000 miles. It ran perfectly.
what do you recommend I do?
Load test the battery and alternator. Check the fuses and relays.
The rodent-damaged wiring you found may well be just the tip of the iceberg.
