I have a 2012 lincoln navigator and I'm from Canada in a cold climate. The vehicle has 226 000 kms. Not sure what that converts to in miles. We have owned it since 180 000km 4 years ago. I've always noticed a slight jerk when accelerating uphill or slowly accelerating in the city without shifting gears. Its like it wants to shift gears but then rapidly changes its mind. Now this problem seems to be significantly worse in recent weeks. What could be the problem here?
Does it constantly skip or does it only do it when you first start accelerating?
@jonathanhack
It doesn't constantly skip. Seems like you need to operate the gas pedal a certain way to almost try to get it to skip. If going uphill slightly on the highway in cruise it will do it every other second or so till it stops working to keep speed
Check the transmission fluid and make sure it is topped up. Even if the pressure in there is down just a little it will cause the valves to not operate correctly. This is normal though after a while and will probably do this for another 200k kms
