Tacoma valve cover gasket leak

Hello Group,

I have a 2018 Tacoma V 6 engine,16000 miles. At 10 k miles within 2 weeks after the oil change I tarted smelling burning oil. After an inspection we found that it was overfilled by about 1 qt of oil.We drained it and watched for leaks overtime.Since we have not seen any major leaks at the time of the inspection the mechanic said that it was maybe just a spill on the exhaust pipe when they did the oil change. This truck was used for about 3000 miles a year, mostly for running errands around town, when used for longer trips over the mountains I started noticing the oil burning smell again finally discovering the the leak on the valve cover.

Can someone pls let me know if the valve cover gasket could have been damaged due to an overfill?

Thank you in advance!

Well of course it could have if you get too much oil that creates too much oil pressure and space that's supposed to have air and it could make the gasket leak. There's basically no way that gasket would have worn out with the low mileage uour vehicle has really

Thank you Sir,really appreciate you!

Just also noting over filling could definitely lead to an issue but if caught early enough and 1 quart over shouldn’t do that.. but lack of use I would consider equally as likely to have led to the premature gasket issue
