Tesla quality

Not my story but a Tesla owner was washing her car and the windshield cracked. To get it replaced is $1700 as there is no aftermarket option. Buyer beware.

Plenty of windshields cost $1500+.

You have to remember that the cars, like my Accord for example, that can read speed limit signs, etc. or have heads up display require specialized glass. My 2002 Z06 had the windshield replaced at a cost of $1800. Nobody is screaming about that, and that car is 19 years old.

Some cars have the antenna built into the windshield as well. Tesla is expensive, but they are not the only car manufacturer to make expensive windshields.

I was more surprised about it cracking during a wash, than the price tag..

I haven't had one crack during a hand wash, but I have had a few Mustang windshields crack in drive thru washes. Not a good feeling, and they average around $600 to replace. Glass keeps getting thinner and thinner. I have chips in my Accord windshield that are there from rocks that barely tapped the glass. I guess it is what it is though.

not to mention built in gadgets like optical and radar systems, etc.

Tesla: Amazing EV technology, Shitty build quality.

I would pass on a Tesla.  Their quality is nowhere near that of the Top 4 (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Subaru).
