Hi Folks,

Your neighboring Canuck here. After having watched countless Scotty videos, having received fantastically friendly support from the community here, and having browsed hundreds of Honda Civics, Toyota Corollas and Matrixes for over four months, I have finally purchased an immaculate '06 Silver Toyota Matrix XR (196,000 km, that's 121,789 miles). This car was religiously serviced and annually maintained with krown rust protection. I purchased the matrix from an honorable elderly gentleman for $5,500. If Kelley Blue Book is to be believed accurate (which is I guess debatable) I actually paid a few hundred over the average cost for this particular specification. But I still consider it a fantastic deal considering how well this car was babied and its pristine condition. So thanks so much for everything folks!

I will say one thing I found particularly difficult throughout my search was having the sellers be comfortable enough with my mechanic checking out the vehicle beforehand (something Scotty always reiterates for used car buyers to do). Say a fantastic deal on a car came up, there was almost no chance a seller would agree with meeting me at my mechanic (or me bringing it there) when they could just as easily sell it to another buyer who isn't as cautious enough to bring the car to their mechanic beforehand—was just too much of a hassle for so many sellers. If there was a good deal, you were often vying for buying power, and the person who would buy it instantly, without their mechanic reviewing it, would often be the winner. So anyway, in the end, with this Matrix, I wasn't able to bring it to my mechanic beforehand, but what I did was purchase the car safetied and certified, and I even spoke with the owner's mechanic, who knew the car very well, all beforehand. And of course we test rode it in several driving conditions, and all looked and drove great. I still plan on my super reliable mechanic checking it out for my peace of mind, but all things considered, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Thank you Scotty and community!

All best wishes,

S.
