I have a 1999 Chevy 2500 Express Van that sometimes when started after sitting for a while will sputter and stall over and over again. Each time just before it does this the dash lights and gauges cut off and turn back on for a split second as if there is an electrical short. The "security" light is currently illuminated as well but I don't have a key fob... just a metal key. Another thing worth mentioning is that this happened once before about a year or two ago but it seemed to "fix itself", just started to act normal by itself without actually replacing any parts or making repairs.
Any idea what could be causing this issue?
Many things can do that but often it's just a bad ignition switch
Thank you for the fast response Scotty.
The ignition was my first thought as well, turned out to be a bad connection on the positive battery terminal... has one of those side screw in terminal.
