Scotty I was a day 2 confirmed Bronco order and I am being told that my order might get delayed until 2022 because of a shortage with the hard tops AND the chip shortage. This is a complete disaster and I’m considering cancelling my order!  They are selling these for sticker yet tell us to switch to soft tops so we can get one. Then supply us a hard top in the future for free, it’s not our fault!!

that's life

Sounds like your choices are to cancel your order, or wait, so deal with it.
What is stamping your feet going to accomplish.

Ummmm.......sounds like they've offered a reasonable solution there.  I'm not sure I understand the outrage.  Supply chain issues are a thing right now.

I can’t believe they didn’t have a backup plan for the chip shortage. I want to be able to build my vehicle the way I want it built which is what we were told. Then we get an email saying we will have our delivery date by the end of May. Then we get an email at the end of May saying they can’t provide us a delivery date. I call my dealer and try to get information about switching to a soft top and wondering if I switch to a soft top would I be able to switch to a hard top at some point in the future. I didn’t get an answer for two weeks because Ford didn’t provide the information to my dealership. The lack of information alone is enough for outrage.

I have to disagree. I deal with this stuff in my line of work all the time on million-plus-dollar projects. It is what it is. When you placed your order, I presume there was no chip shortage to have a backup plan for. It wasn't foreseen, much like a lot of things over the last year and a half. I can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to replace the soft top with a hard top down the line; the question is, will they discount the difference up front? My suggestion: Calm down and go speak with the dealer, in-person, and get some clarification to your questions, in writing. And no "you do this or I'm cancelling my order" tone. Believe me, there's a line of people ready to freely give their money for your spot. Don't cut off the ol schnoz to spite your face. It will backfire.

Supply you a hard top in the future for free?

Yeah that's gonna be a big no way.

People are far too entitled these days.

1. You bought into a year one product. Production problems, recalls, supply chain problems, issues, etc. all go along with that.

2. The chip shortage has hurt everyone across the board, not just Ford. This has been in the news for a while now.

3. Nobody knows when the shortage will end, but popular opinion is no time soon. I think it was reasonable for them to say "Hey, for those that don't want to wait we can get you a soft top now if that's acceptable."

Nobody is making you forego a hard top. They are simply telling you if that's what you want to stick to, there's going to be a wait. If you are ok with that, then you'll get yours when it is available. If you want to switch to a soft top, you can get it sooner.

If you want to cancel your order, cancel it. Then go somewhere else and try ordering any vehicle and see what the wait time looks like. It's going to be the same.
