Hello, what are your thoughts on the Ford Ecoboost engines with the 10 speed automatic transmissions? Any known issues and things to watch out for? Thanks.

This has been discussed on our forum if you do a search, but in short pass on them especially if you plan to keep past 100,000 miles.

Ive had the 3.5 ecoboost with the ten speed for about two years now. Timing chain rattle on cold start just started about 6 months ago. For that, on a cold start I go clear flood mode, crank and count to five while waiting for the oil pressure to come to life and push the tensioners back into place. The noise has me concerned about the engine later on down the road. Valves were a little noisy but they did a reprogram and since then its so quiet I can barely hear it idling. No issues with my transmission yet.
Positives: very smooth ride, lots of legroom in all seats in the crew cab, much higher towing capacity than I'll ever need, rapid acceleration if needed.
I think they say 23 mpg highway. I do about 80% highway driving (country roads around 55 mph, and interstates 70 plus) and have around 19.3 average for the last 10k miles).
Friend's F-150 (2.7 ecoboost) 10 speed transmission slams into gear, its been to the dealer, part has been on backorder for months.
