Mid 2000's and early 2010's Lexus LS 430 and 460, thoughts? How reliable are the v8's? I heard they need more maintenance.
I had a LS460 and LOVED it.....until 110k when a couple of sensors in the engine went bad and it was going to cost me $2600 to repair. Then....it was outta here.
Drives great and pretty reliable, but when something breaks Lexus really goes for your throat on the repairs. And I wasn't even at a dealer when I got that priced.
For me having a 2600 dollar repair on a Lexus at 110k miles wouldn't make me pleased with the car. I personally am going to stay away from it and consider the XV30 Camry XLE v6. Less expensive and more reliable. I have a 09 Sportage 130k miles doing perfectly fine bought it from a rental company in 2010 and all I did was the timing belt once and everything else is fine. Suprising to see a 16.000 dollar korean car be more reliable than a Lexus LS.
(btw this is applicable to the Kia/Hyundai's with the 2.0 engine from this era which was not turbocharged or GDi and tied to the 4 speed auto like the Elantra and Tuscon, the newer ones will not last anywhere near the amount this engine will, but its still suprising)
I think that is a good point Kerem, if you have $2k total repair cost (not maintenance) in 100k miles, pretty good! But people.... we just hate larger outlays of cash... of course a slow bleed over time is more acceptable if if more $!
Is this problem common?
I think I remember reading that there was a recall about it.
I see. Best to avoid it then. When it comes to luxury car's, I would refer an Acura TL or Lexus ES then. Thanks!
If you want to buy a Lexus, get the V6. Those are less pricey and tend to last a really long time.
Amazing car owned a 2007, bought it in 2011 kept it for 6 years used it to go everywhere. Then decided to lease a new rx350, I would drive that ls instead, you can't go wrong with Lexus. Repair will cost more but it is expected in such a beast of a car, but hey still cheaper than repairing a German car. But make sure you get one with the Mark Levinson Audio.
those are mercedes killers lol. if society wasnt so brainwashed by social media they would know to get a lexus for value and reliability. instead you got clowns like roddy rich says he wants a suburban and driving some dodge charger at the beginning of his music video. I wish I could see some celebrity with class once. same reason why people buy apple instead of android. theyre not after quality, they want the idea of status symbol lol
those ls430 could last a very long time if you dont mind a v8. lexus parts cost more than toyota but thats how it is when u buy luxury
Yes. I thing ideally an ES or GS would be the way to go.
es is basically a v6 camry, i wouldnt see that as i good value tbh. the GS are much nicer but unfortunately now discontinued due to low sales as it was the 5 series competitor. have you considered a toyota avalon? Its basically an ES with less maintenance and cheaper parts if needed
An Avalon is basically an LS with lower maintenance and a V6, it is huge. I do consider them but they are very big for the city. That is also why I scratched the though of an LS. GS or ES is my choise for a Lexus. Honestly, I like the Volvo S60 much more.
