2015 equinox that keeps pushing out the oil filter seal

I noticed oil leaving by the filter on my 2015 equinox 4 cylinder FWD (125k mi) and thought the seal was just bad so I replaced it when I changed the oil. Within minutes it pushed the new seal out. Tried a different brand oilfilter/seal and same thing happen. Its been slow enough that I can use the car but I need help so I can stop leaking oil. I thought it might be a clog but its had fresh oil for 2k miles and no change. What could it be and how can I fix it?

Sounds like the cap is cracked or the threads are stripped. Usually the cap strips, but it is possible for the plastic canister to crack or strip also.

The plastic threads have to be super clean...any debris will cause the threads to bind and eventually leads to stripping. Overtightening one time can also ruin.

Bad engineering design.

Takes a 1 and 1/4 socket, universal swivel, extension, and ratchet...tighten snug, but don't overtighten.

Yep, I'm sure there's a torque spec... Above is great info, ya might just get a new cap...

The treads had looked fine and the seal looked like it was making good tight contact. Thats why I thought it was building up pressure and blowing the seal out. Personally I think the design of the oilfilter on the equinox is terrible, worst I've ever had to change
