Timing Belt Question

Topic starter

I have a 2008 V6 Honda Accord with close to 80K miles.

I went to the dealer for a recall. They told me that I need a new timing belt. They said that it needs to be changed after a certain amount of miles or after a certain amount of years(I do not remember what he said exactly). When do you know or what are the signs that I need to change the timing belt?

I would change it according to your manufacturer's service interval (Google should give you the answer). I have replaced many broken timing belts on those and trust me, it's not fun having your car break down on you in the middle of the road. You also risk damaging your engine if the belt breaks. Find a reputable shop near you to replace it. The dealer is gonna charge you an arm and leg!

You know because you read the manual ... right?
