Hey Scotty, I’m a new viewer and can say that YouTube is a better place with you around👍🏻!im going on a road trip from Chicago to Asheville and I was wonder in what psi I should run my tires while traveling on the highway? I drive a 2017 Toyota Tacoma sr5 double cab with a cap on the bed with Michelin defender tires. I believe the recommended psi is 44psi!

There is no need to adjust the tire pressure for long trips. Keep the pressure at the recommended tire pressure on the door jamb.

Go by what the vehicle manufacturer recommends. No need to over or underinflate them just for a highway trip.

Check your car recommendation for tire pressure.

Check the tag on the inside driver door jamb and it will show cold tire pressure. You start out with cold pressure because as you drive the pressure will increase, and will increase quicker in warmer weather. Doesn't matter city or highway. When I drive to work my pressure goes from 32 and doesn't reach 35 until I'm almost at work (30 minute highway drive). Now that it's warm, my pressures hit 35 in about 8-10 minutes. If you're reading the 44psi on the side of the tire..that's the max pressure, not starting out pressure

I don't change my tire pressure for the highway. I just always use whatever is on the door sticker.

Adjust the tire pressures, of course, for temperature. Asphalt highways can hit 140 degrees in the summer.
