Vehicle owners manual says to remove the oil drain plug to change the oil. Manufactures Service Manual recommends to siphon the oil from the top. Only mention of the drain plug is for entire engine disassembly.
Which author or manual is correct?

Always use the drain plug I know it's Audi dealers they now say you just suck it up and that's cuz it's a real pain to take the bottom plate off the car. Crud will stay in the bottom if you don't take the plug out and eventually clog things up but of course they want you to buy another car anyway so they don't care
