Good morning

I know scotty recomends a 2012 camry with the  6 sp tranny,  what about the newer years say 2013 through 2019 and v4 vs v6

Thanks

To buy: 2012-2017, 2019+

Not to buy: 2018 because of tranny issues

2012-2017 (last Gen) pretty reliable overall, can’t go wrong there.  The new generation (2018- ) is still fairly new and 2018 had the new 8-speed which had customer complaints in the first year, which was supposedly addressed for 2019 and onward.  Also now you have more tech with the active driver assist which I am not a fan of, but that’s the direction of the industry.  They’ve built hundreds of thousands of Camry’s in this newer generation and the proportion of problems has been low so it’s been holding up.  You have to decide how much you are willing to spend and which generation styling you like more before buying.  The current generation also has better driving dynamics as a bonus (but by no means a sports car, lol).

I4 (not V4) will last longer than V6 but both are super reliable engines that if well maintained will last hundreds of thousands of miles.
