Is the 2004 Toyota Camry V6 a great car ? How is the engine quality and overall longevity of it and do you know of any troubles with it aloha from Honolulu Hawaii Scotty ! 110,000 miles so far
The engine is a 3.0L V6 (1MZ-FE V6) and susceptible to engine oil sludge - was also part of class action lawsuit against Toyota for this issue. To be fair, the earlier model years (prior to 2004) were more impacted and it’s not clear how many of the model year 2004 V6’s continued to have the engine sludge issues. One way to mitigate the risk is to religiously change engine oil every 3,000 miles. Otherwise, they were solid vehicles. Has the engine oil on your vehicle been changed frequently?

@daywalker Hey, I have a 99 Solara ( 3.0L V6 engine) and heard about the sludge thing too.
Q: ever heard of diesel fuel being poured into an engine to flush out sludge??

You are responding to a post that was made nearly 4 years ago. Rather than "hijacking" an old post to ask a question you please post your own topic, giving a clear and concise description of your vehicle issue. Thank you.
