Toyota Corolla vs Honda Civic

Howdy!

I’m starting a new job relatively far (30-50mi in Southern California) from my home, and I’m not really looking to spend that gas money for my 2013 Toyota Tundra CrewMax 4WD, so I am looking for a smaller car with better gas mileage to handle the main bulk of my work driving. My question is: Toyota Corolla or Honda Civic? I’m looking to spend at most 7-800 bucks on an car just to use as a work transportation vehicle, and not really much else. I know both are good cars, and I know I can also get both for around the same price for the same function, so at this point is it just a matter of opinion, or is there a definitive winner in this particular case?

Thanks to anyone willing to weigh in!

2001 Toyota Corolla best car. Make sure you get silver color lol. Classic, will last literally forever. I think you ment 7-8k right? GL finding one for 7-8 Hundo lol. Tbh both are about the same as you said. My bias is towards the Corolla because I just like it better than the civic. Civcs have some problematic years, can't remember which ones but someone or Google can tell ya. As far as I know, any year is ight with Toyota as long as the whole takata airbag thing is fixed.
