IMHO, it is dumb for the government to “force” electric vehicles. I’m not against electric vehicles. But EV’s need to come around on their own, and prove themselves on their own merit. 

If Toyota is just asking for reprieve from the EV law mandates, then there isn’t any harm.

If Toyota is actively lobbying for laws that restrict others from doing EV work, I have a problem with that. That’s like mandating EV’s in reverse.

I think Toyota is doing more of the former, rather than the latter. But I am open to evidence either way.

They seem to be the only car company out there pointing out that the Emperor has no clothes.

In theory, EVs sound good.  But it seems to me that manufacturers are trying to rush unproven technologies, like AFM, start/stop and others to the market before they are thoroughly proven.  Not to mention the obstacles to having EVs when the sources of charging power are being eliminated by the political hacks running this country.
