Scotty, you've recently said that you rented a non-hybrid RAV4 for a trip to Death Valley, and going 55 mph you got 55 mpg. Can that be right? Toyota says that vehicle gets a maximum of 35 mpg. You mentioned this on YouTube a few days ago, at the 3:50 mark here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KEm2djwWIi0
Thanks.

In top gear, if you're going twice as fast, you need 4x the amount of fuel to do it. If you're going 55 MPH, theoretically, you could possibly achieve 55 MPG. Seems high for an SUV. The window stickers are only a guide, it's how you drive that matters. I have an old Ford Ranger 3.0, I got 22.5 mpg once, and it's only rated for 19 mpg highway. I went 55-60 mph, not 70+ mph.
