Hey Scotty,
I am a big fan of your channel and could use your guidance. My mother-in-law has an automatic 2003 Ford Focus and has a brake fluid leak. I found brake fluid on the ground by the driver side front and back tires. She later told me she had hit a curb pretty good on the driver side two weeks earlier that may have caused the damage. I am not sure yet which specific components are leaking yet. I am planning on working on it this weekend. I did see that her brake master cylinder reservoir is empty and heard it is really bad if that goes dry, but couldn't find information on what to do if it is dry. Are there any additional steps I need to take if the brake master cylinder is empty? Any tips on replacing the damaged parts by the tires?
Thanks,
Jonathan
replace the damaged components and bleed the brake system
Assuming the car has ABS you will probably need a bidirectional scan tool to bleed the brakes after repair. Consider replacing rubber brake hoses since they're 20 years old at this point.
