96 Honda accord LX weird Transmission Slip

Hey Scotty, I have a 96 Honda accord 4cyl with an auto transmission and its having an issue catching any gear past 2 and sometimes even past 1st gear. When I put the transmission into the low gears like 1st or 2nd it moves fine but when I put it into D(rive) then it feels like its having trouble disconnecting from first when going up to speed and just cant catch second, then it lets go and revs high and I have to slow down a LOT for it to catch back onto first so I can start moving again. Also have a code for P0715, is this just an issue with those little speed solenoids possibly being clogged or is it something deeper I'm going to have to replace?

P.S. Forgot to also ask why does my temp gauge won't move? it sits lifeless at the bottom even after I replaced the temp sensor on the thermostat housing

Those cars have weak automatic transmissions, it's a minor miracle that it's lasted just a couple of years shy of three decades. Note the #1 problem reported on carcomplaints.com:

Chances are that your transmission is simply worn out. When is the last time it was serviced? What does the fluid look like?

The temperature gauge problem is a separate issue that should have been posted as its own topic, but briefly you're going to need to get out a multimeter and a wiring diagram to troubleshoot that circuit.
