I'm looking at a 2004 Toyota 4runner SR5 , V 6, 217 k miles for under $1200. Are these any good? It has VVT, what ever that is.

That is a steal. Clearly the guy has no idea what it is worth. Jump on it.
Let me add that the seller might know what he has. And what he has is a 4Runner that’s on its last legs. That’s why he’s priced it so cheap. So get it thoroughly checked by a mechanic before buying.

Since you asked.....VVT is Variable Valve Timing.

Could be a great buy if you evaluation of the motor and the rest of the vehicle comes out clean.
