Scotty, I have a 2013 Chevy Silverado 1500 crew cab 1500. I drive it up and down the highway everyday for an average for 35-40 minutes. What issues could I be looking at driving it up and down the highway over time?

What is the current odometer reading?

Are you towing anything? Are you hammering down on the pedal? Overall highway driving is actually one of the best things you can do for your vehicle. Everything stays lubricated better. If it’s a hilly area You’re driving I’d say keep an eye on your transmission temp and stay on top of fluid changes ext.

Scotty always says that highway miles is 10-20% vs city mileage. Just keep up with the proper maintenance.

If you haven’t done so already, I would turn off the cylinder deactivation system (active fuel management, or AFM, as GM calls it) or your engine will wear out/get damaged over time (if it hasn’t already worn out) - on the highway is where the AFM is most likely to engage.  We have a sticky under FAQ that talks about cylinder deactivation and it’s perils.  Stay on top of engine oil changes and automatic transmission (and differentials) fluid changes to get the most life out of them.  Being a GM product, electronics could start to fail on you over time so be prepared for that as well.
