Scotty & Community,
I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma double cab 4x4 Off Road Edition V6 3.5 liter
I have 82k miles on her now
I was recently in the hospital and have not driven my truck in almost 3 weeks
It sat in my driveway untouched.
Yesterday I started it for the first time and it made HORRIBLE knocking noise from the engine. I never heard a noise like this before from any car I’ve owned and especially not from my Taco truck
I bought this new in 2013 it was a dealer demo with 7k on it at time of purchase.
Ive always done proper general maintenance. I have been using Valvoline full synthetic oil 5 w 30 for last 2+ years
I normally buy my own oil and filter and bring it to my cousins oil change place for lube service. Covid started and he does not want me to bring my own oil and filter anymore?
I let them change the oil with his Full Synthetic oil about 3 months ago.
I have never heard a noise like this before from my truck
My dad thinks / says because it has sat untouched for so long the oil drained out of the top end of the engine sounded like it making a lot of lifter noise
he said he had an old chevy that would make similar noise
Confused and not sure what to do or what I can do
thanks
NickM
It shouldn’t make noise like that no matter what.
Is it still making noise? Did you check the oil level?
