Why is Toyota Type T-IV transmission fluid purpleish in color vs red like Motorcraft Mercon V? I've compared the two, new from a bottle on a clean paper towel and there is definitely a difference in coloration.
Now I can't UNSEE it.

They use different dyes to differentiate from other manufactures.

They probably discovered in the focus groups that people are willing to pay more for oil if it's dyed purple.

Whatever the reason, stick with the Toyota Fluid.....
Well yeah. I sure would love to know the science behind it though. What gives it that beautiful hue?
