Hi Scotty
I'm looking for a new car, something I do about every 12 years, I like the Toyota Venza and the Lexus NX 350h. Which would you buy? I know you don't buy new but you're a talented gut and I know you don't like hybrids much but I think gas prices are going to continue to go higher.
I hate buying cars (even more than spending money) I hate car dealers AND the last car I bought was a 2003 BMW 325i!!!! I know how much you dislike BMWs...and now so do I. I don't drive much with COVID but I feel that I should buy before my car breaks and I spend good money after bad. Your videos have directed me to Toyota/Lexus. I need something dependable, I'm not a good mechanic. Help me Scotty please help me!!
Thank you Scotty!
They are both basically the same car. The Venza and the NX (and the RX) share the same platform as the RAV4.
The RAV4 and the NX are in the same size category.
And the Venza and the RX are in the same size category.
The latter are the luxury counterparts to the consumer version.
The Venza is a bit wider and bigger, and the NX is a bit slimmer and smaller.
Since they are basically the same car, test drive them both and see which bells and whistles you like better.
I would go Toyota and the only reason I say that is the cost of maintenance would be lower.
Personally, I would not go with either one since they utilize the new (and very complicated) Dynamic Force engine (A25A-FXS) and no one knows how long it will last. Both are still early in the generation (started on model year 2021), so who knows what issues will come up over time - realize that, too. That being said, of the two, I’d go with the Toyota since parts will be generally cheaper than the Lexus.
