toyota water pump

Please help. I will be buying a 2004-2007 rav4. cant decide between a 4 cyl. or 6, and is there an engine that dies when the water pump goes, thanks.

They would both die if the water pump goes. Thats just how cars work... but they are both pretty reliable and I wouldn't second guess buying either one.

Sorry, you misunderstood me. If it goes when you are driving, I think because it is attached to the timing chain, don't remember what scotty said about it.


All is good. Both of these engines have the water pump driven by the serpentine belt. It only has 1 serpentine belt for all of the accessories. The timing chain for the crank and cams is separate.
