Scotty always raves about Toyotas.  I agree. What I don't understand is WHY Toyota makes it so extremely difficult to change their engine oil .  Special oil filters, inaccessible bolts for removing air flow pan etc etc. This just seems to me a major screw up or an concerted effort to hassle their customers. I just don't get it.

Probably because they don't want you doing your own maintenance.  They want you to take it to their stealership so they can charge you $300 for an oil and filter change then tell you there are half a dozen other things that need to be done for around $2000.
