Hey Scottie, if the tpms scan tool can't get a reading on a tire does that mean the battery in the sensor is dead or that there is no sensor?

It could be either. What vehicle are you looking at?
@mod_man it's a 2008 4runner sr5, I put wheels from 2017 4runner trd off road on it. I tried having them programmed but couldn't get a reading on it

Another possibility is that sensors in tyres are not programmed for your car.
